Latest Edinburgh eats and drinks

Greetings food lovers and drink sippers! I've been so busy since February so haven't really had much of an opportunity to update you on my latest food and drink finds in and around the city. Here is my rundown of worthwhile establishments from the end of February until now. I haven't reviewed every place I've eaten or drank but only the ones that are new to me or are a favourite and are worthy of another visit and mention! Happy dining!

The Roseleaf
Location - Sandport Place, Leith

What I ate and drank - Mad Hatters T-Party! Think afternoon tea but turned up a notch. Favourites included chicken croquettes, coronation Scotch eggs and rich chocolate tiffin slices. The cocktails were sweet and delicious, with Rose Garden being a highlight - a gin and rose infusion.

Howies
Location - Waterloo Place
What I ate and drank - we went for a 40th birthday meal, so Prosecco was flowing in abundance, as well as wine on the table. The food was hearty and traditional. I had haggis, neeps and tatties to start, then stuffed chicken with some potatoes and gravy. Very satisfying, even if I was blurry by the end...

Sligh House
Location - George IV Bridge
What I ate and drank -  I was excited to try Sligh being a massive fan of Bar Kohl. I didn't eat, but the new drinks list is refreshing and refined. I tried Tincture, Tailor, Soldier Spy (the one with the lollipop below) - a strong mix of gin, elderflower and other delicious things, and Fifteen Ways to Say Cat (the one with the shrub below) - another yummy blend, this time of vodka, Icelandic bitters and ginger beer. Excellent.

Pickles
Location - Broughton Street
What I ate and drank -  I love the cheeseboard deal from Pickles. You get everything below (cheeses, chutneys, bread, oatcakes and pickles) and a bottle of wine for £25. Perfect for two to share. The cheese is a treat and the staff are charming. A must-visit.

Pinto
Location - Shandwick Place
What I ate and drank -  we opted for the £10 deal. You get a meal and two alcohol drinks. It's a real bargain. I had a beef burrito with a beer and a margarita. I already can't wait to go back. Excuse my signature lipstick smothered all over the burrito.

Heads and Tales
Location - Shandwick Place/Rutland Street
What I ate and drank -  I didn't eat but opted for the quirky "make your own" as shown on the menu below. I had Gin Mare with mango in a martini glass.  Delicious.

The Jolly Botanist
Location - Morrison Street
Website - I couldn't find a website but here is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Jolly-Botanist/737872066276096
What I ate and drank -  again, I didn't eat but I had the undernoted Easter cocktail. A sweet and unusual treat!

Monteiths
Location - Royal Mile
What I ate and drank -  duck fat chips with lobster mayo and a Skittles Swizzle cocktail. The cocktail, as the name suggests, tastes just like Skittles. It is a joyful concoction of vodka, strawberries and Pinot Noir. I can't get enough.
